This is a poem
for all those
beautiful people
with mental illness
for my aunt Bunny Back
who was told she was crazy
not the Patsy Cline crazy
She went onto
the Canadian Pacific
railroad tracks
north of Biggar, Saskatchewan
one hot August day in 1979
and waited for the train
to take her to a place
that would ease her mind
to bring forth peace
Aunt Bunny didn't have
a support system
I was 15
she wasn't crazy
she was
different
different like -
Adele
Mariah Carey
Justin Bieber
Lady Gaga
Selena Gomez
Leonardo DiCaprio
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Princess Diana
This is a poem
for all those
beautiful people
with mental illness
for there to be peace
peace in their hearts
peace in their minds
let us give a piece
of our peace
let us all be
a mouthpiece
for peace
let us all be
a support system
each other's
support system
This is a poem
for all those
beautiful people
that are -
Different.
In loving memory of Ida L. Back

While we've learned a lot, there's still so much more we can do to evolve as a society.
To coincide with 'World…
