CONNECTION: LIFE - INTRODUCTION

Sometimes awful things have their own kind of beauty.

"Connection: Life" is a compilation of three poems supported by two digital visual paintings.

We are all Children of God, and, in a way, we will always remain children.

When we feel happiness, it feels like it will never end. When we feel sadness, it feels like happiness will never return. These three poems were written in early 2009 as a glimpse into the human condition and emotion. The visuals were created by artist Nikolitsa Boutieros who is well known for working with music icons like Nick Cave, Patti Smith and many others. Similar to her other work, these are complex works with a lot more to them than what one may think upon first glance. Please spend time with them, contemplate them, study them. My hope in sharing this work is that each one of us will take the time to study ourselves and ultimately find peace within.

LAST SCAR

crushed spirit, another life,

this life, and the wind taken from it,

another scar placed upon it, no more can it take,

the little child has lost its will, tears roll down his cheek,

Last scar.

NO LONGER IN SERVICE

A thrown away life,

a disposable life,

this is how I feel,

like the daily trash on a curb,

or a back lane,

no more purpose, no more use,

with little value,

we treat lives like daily trash,

with this necklace of bricks,

I'm drowning in an ocean of tears,

an ocean of darkness,

my inner voice now only reaches a busy signal,

with a message of no longer in service,

will anyone find me?

can anyone find me?

from rotary dial to fiber optics,

from homo-sapiens to human beings,

we are supposed to be a voice of reason,

sometimes a voice of reason,

other times a voice of doubt,

it is all within us,

sometimes a scream and sometimes a shout,

the difference lies in the truth of right and wrong,

within us is a voice of reason, a voice to choose rightly,

the voice of reason is as clear as HDTV,

our inner satellite points to this voice of reason,

our inner radio station plays the same song,

across our dial a voice of reason,

let us broadcast joy and hope to the world,

the text message reads we are all hope and joy.

Hello Everyone,

My IT friend tried to flirt with a waitress and failed miserably.

I guess it wasn't the first time he couldn't connect to the server.

The internet connection at my farm is really sketchy, so I moved the modem to the barn.

Now I have stable Wi-Fi.

Look, I'm all for coloring books... but connect-the-dots?

That's where I draw the line.

I've always had a deep connection with mirrors.

I see a lot of myself in them.

Adam Sawatsky, who has the largest inspirational bandwidth, connects us to Justin Veenema in today's 'Adam Sawatsky Day.'

Learning of Justin Veenema's social anxiety made me think of my 'Connection: Life' that I released fifteen years ago.
